Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN 2012 – and it goes on!

Baden-Baden, July 2012 – The biggest Wakeboard-Boat Event in Germany and Europe takes place at Freistett am Rhein, close to Baden-Baden, for the 8th time from 16th till 19th of august 2012. 5000 Euros cash are in the price bucket for the best Wakeboard-Pros from all around Europe, while the german boat scene as well as the scene from neighboring countries will again celebrate a perfect gathering on the water. Sticking to the tradition and motto of the event: “Chill And Ride – powered by NISSAN”.

Something that started in 2005 as a small “get-together” of the german wakeboarding boat scene, is now, only some years later, the biggest wakeboard boat event in Europe. It’s already tradition for many wakeboard boat crews to get their rides to Freistett am Rhein at the 3rd weekend of August in order to celebrate “Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN” every year again – on the water as well as on the dancefloor. The Rhine banks are the playground on the water with a competition track close to the spectators and the family Karchers’ shipyard is converted into a perfect party-, chillout- and expo- area. But the weekend is also home to a lot of freeriding with perfect conditions on the 12 kilometer track which starts directly outside the harbor, which is one of the longest in Germany.

Let’s talk about wakeboarding: some big names of the scene participated within the last years at “Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN”. Adam Fields (USA), Yann Calvez (FRA), Dan Nott (GBR) and David O’Caoimh (IRL) already won the Pro-Men competition and it wasn’t easy as guys like Dominik Hernler (AUT), Conni Schrader (GER) – the best german behind the boat for several years now – or David Vervenne (BEL) didn’t make the battle an easy one. The female victories went as well to well known names like Sian Hurst (IRL), Elke Venken (BEL), Robbie Rendo (ARG) and Pete Reißmann (GER). There is a wakesurfing competition for some years now, too, and vice Worldchampion Dominic Lagace was one of the winners there, as well as Tobias Reißmann who is till today the only guy who won the Open Mens “German Championships” ever since. Many of those will join this year again, but there are additionally some more really big names to be named: first of all Parks Bonifay (USA) – the legend and maybe most famous wakeboarder nowadays – just confirmed his participation, as well as Nico von Lerchenfeld from Germany, Nikita Martyanov (RUS) and many more. Let’s see who will be triumphant, especially in the Pro division where 5000 Euros are up for grabs for those guys on the podium. As the level rises every year, we are sure to see again some top notch riding and big tricks!

A special format which comes along with the weekend ever since is the Team-Challenge, which takes place on saturday. Wakeboarding is known as a sports of individuals but the concept forces the riders to build teams of four with at least one female rider, in order to compete together for a team victory. The atmosphere whilst this competition is so special and every crew cheers for their own riders even more. Another special thing about “Chill And Ride”, every participant rides the contest behind his own or his crews boat, the boat where they also hang out throughout the rest of the weekend. As you might imagine there are always some hot chicks in bikinis on board and that’s again one point why especially the boys love this event and maybe also a reason for the crowd on the Rhine banks to visit the event and stay there all day long every year again.

Since the event got bigger every year the base at the competition track got even more important. It’s the place where sponsors and partners present themselves, their products, and main sponsor NISSAN has some special offers. Besides there are raffles, food and beverage stations as well as a moderation and DJs who inform and tease the crowd all day long. Harry Dopfert, the “Voice of Chill And Ride”, is the guy who entertains all guests throughout the weekend. Thousands of enthusiastic fans are supposed to get there this year again, as it might be known that “Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN” has got a special deal for perfect weather!

As we are talking about the specials of “Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN”, we also have to talk about the parties, which take place at the shipyard every night. In the early evening hours it’s the place to get a BBQ and some drinks and as night comes, it’s time to move to the dance-floor and the longest bar around, where you can order some fine cocktails. The party goes all night long, on friday as well as on saturday and everyone who already PARTYcipated will of course remember this evening. The official WarmUp of this years event is already one week before the main event at the “Club Cucuma” Rastatt. DJ Tease and DJ 5. Ton – part of the famous german hiphop crew “Massive Tone” from Stuttgart – will turn up the vibes and tease as much as possible, to get everyone pumped for the party one week afterwards.

But it’s also the organizer of this event who should be mentioned here. Daniel Butzerin-Schutze with the help of his wife Tanja, plans this event since it’s very beginning and that’s why he is called “Mr. Chill And Ride”! He managed to develop the former small gathering in what it is today – the biggest and most important wakeboard boat event in Europe. It’s importance for the region as well as for the whole scene is obvious. At this point it’s also the place to shout out a big THANKS to all those helping hands out there. You are the guys who help that the event recap is all positive, year after year.

Besides such an event needs strong and continuous partners and sponsors, as these make the event possible with their support. Therefore a big thanks goes out to NISSAN, Mastercraft and Relentless Energy Drink. As well to Jet-Team.de, Ronix Wakeboards Germany, Stage Concept, the Cucuma Club and additionally to all other sponsors and partners, which make it a highlight every year again! See you at Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN in a few weeks. Party and riding goes on…
