Being labeled as a post-hardcore Christian band isn’t something most bands in the genre admit to. Based on the lack of talent the genre has produced over the years, I don’t blame them. But this power packed foursome from Abilene, Texas is different. Their roots and sometimes their lyrics stem from their beliefs but they don’t want to be labeled as such. Close Your Eyes lets their music do the talking (in some cases the screaming) and the fans of melodic-hardcore have come to listen. CYE’s popularity continues to grow thanks to back to back stellar albums. Their 2010 Victory Records debut, We Will Overcome, was short of amazing. Just over a year later the newly released, Empty Hands and Heavy Hearts, is an album not to be forgotten. Check these guys out and give “Christian hardcore” another chance.
