Most Improved Wakeskater

What’s that saying? About old dogs and new tricks? Well, it certainly doesn’t apply here. Even though Dieter is a few years older than most up-and-coming wakeskaters at 28, his learning curve is second to none, and that’s why he’s earned our most improved award for 2009.

“He’s definitely one of the most all around talented people I have ever met,” Diets’s riding buddy Steve Campbell says. “He edits, he surfs, he skates and he gets it all really quickly. As far as this past year, he’s definitely stepped it up with flip tricks wake to wake and his indy back bigs.”

Steve has had the pleasure of watching Dieter’s progression first hand and says there is actually a method to his madness. “He usually knows what he wants to do before we even go out. Nine times out of 10 he’ll stick it by the end of the set. Watch out, he’s definitely a candidate for trick of the year next year!”

The 2009 Alliance Superlatives recognize the outstanding athletes and more for the past year. They are chosen by the Alliance staff in collaboration with former Rider of the Year winners. Be sure to check out the new issue of Alliance Wakeboard Magazine for more.
