The Rockstar Energy Wakeskate Tour Stop 2: RETENTION

Retention has done it again — lived up to it’s name and retained one of the most progressive wakeskate contests in the world. The Rockstar Energy Wakeskate Tour Stop #2 has come to a close after an intense, fun-filled weekend with 62 riders total – 24 Quarter-finalists, 12 Semi-finalists and six-man Super Final.

In Women’s events, Jen Gilanfarr holds her spot as Women’s First Place Retention Champion for the second year in a row. Cassie Scott boardslid her way into Second Place followed by Tynna Rosero in Third Place.

Ben Horan, Andrew Pastura, Daniel Grant, George Daniels, Andrew Fortenberry, and Marcus Knox threw every trick under the sun in the Six-nman Super Final. Heats were judged on the riders top two lines. Andrew Fortenberry showed flawless execution throughout the day. His v-flip over the land gap to frontside blunt shuv out and kickflip over the land gap to backside bigger spin landed him in Third Place. Daniel Grant’s creative riding kept everyone on their toes earning his spot on podium in Second Place with backside big spin over the land gap to switch bigger spin over the rail. It was all fun and games for Ben Horan, hometown hero and our host for the weekend, dominated the heats with super clean consistency and stomped 3-shuv over the land gap to frontside flip over the rail landing him in First Place. Daniel Grants consistency has paid off and this second place finish pulled him into the current points leader for The Wakeskate Tour.

Ben Horan and his family welcomed spectators and riders old and young, local and international, for three days of peace and wakeskating complemented by afternoon barbecue, and late night pool parties in Ben’s backyard concrete heaven.

On behalf of The Wakeskate Tour, Rockstar Energy Drink, Nike, Zeal Optics, Sesitec 2.0, Remote Wakeskates, and Ambush Board Co., we’d like to thank The Horan Family for welcoming all of us onto your property and into your home and for all of your hard work to make this happen for the tour, for the riders, and for wakeskating. Thank you.
