Wakestock

WAKESTOCK GŴYL Y MÔR IS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST THE MUSIC. THE WAKEBOARDING ACTION RETURNS THIS YEAR WITH THREE DAYS OF WORLD CLASS WAKEBOARDING COMPETITIONS SPLIT ACROSS THREE SITES ON THE STUNNING PEN LLYN.

PLUS WE’VE GOT HAVE A GO WAKEBOARD, WAKESURF and STAND UP PADDLEBOARDING SESSIONS RUNNING ALL WEEKEND VIA OUR FRIENDS AT OFF AXIS, PLUS A WHOLE DAY OF FAMILY FUN WITH THE OFF AXIS BEACH OLYMPICS ON ABERSOCH BEACH.

Over the past 14 years top international riders have travelled from all over the world to compete at Wakestock Gŵyl y Môr and this year they will be back in force for their chance to take the title of Wakestock Champion. You can look forward to three days of full on wakeboarding action with the PRO QUALIFIER at Pwllheli Marina on Friday evening and boat comp final on Sunday morning. Sandwiched in between this is the ever popular BIG AIR Competition on Saturday on Abersoch Main beach. Plus the WAKESTOCK RAIL EUROPEANS will be taking place at Glasfryn Wake Park on Friday and Sunday afternoon. We will be announcing full details of the riders competing this year in the next few weeks.

We are stoked to announce that the SUPER AIR NAUTIQUE G23 will be towing the competition this year. This boat was created from the dreams of the best athletes in the world. Over the past year the G23 wake’s perfect transitions and firm, clean lip has proven to be the launching point for the most progressive riding we have ever seen in wake sports, charging through rough water and big double ups without hesitation. It should make for some great viewing down at Pwllheli Marina this year.

Loads of Wakestock fans are water-sports enthusiasts and if you are coming to the festival this summer and getting out on the water Wakestock Gŵyl y Môr are working with local surf and wake academy Off Axis. The Off Axis team will be running HAVE A GO WAKEBOARD & WAKESURF SESSIONS all weekend from their club in Pwllheli Marina and down on Abersoch beach. They will also be running SUP (Stand up Paddleboard) sessions. So if you fancy getting out on the water and enjoying all that Cardigan Bay has to offer make sure you give the Off Axis team a call on 01758 713407 to book your slots.

Off Axis will also be running PRO RIDER CLINICS so if you fancy brushing up your skills with tuition from one of the Wakestock pro’s make sure you get your slot booked in. More details on these clinics will be announced in the next few weeks but places will be limited.

The Mystic Big Air competition is one of the highlights of the weekend’s competitions – the riders are towed through the water and hit a kicker which is only metres from the shoreline, it’s a really simple format – biggest trick wins! We’ve got a whole day of activities taking place on Abersoch Beach this year with the first OFF AXIS BEACH OLYMPICS. There will be beach football, SUP fancy  dress races, tug of war, beach volleyball, slackline sessions and a the beach café will be hosting a big beach BBQ. Get yourselves down to Abersoch Beach from 10am on Saturday 12th July to take part, or you can just chill on the beach and take in the view!

All of this is in addition to an epic music line-up that includes the likes of Tom Odell, John Newman, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls, Razorlight, Clean Bandit, Duke Dumont, Gorgon City, Frightened Rabbit, Ella Eyre and many more including top Welsh Acts Charlotte Church, Gulp, Cian Ciaran, The Earth and lots still to be announced. It is not a year you want to miss!
