Press Release:

The O’Neill UK Wake Team cleaned up at The 2011 Wakeboard UK Boat Nationals last weekend.  Despite some insane competition it was O’Neill riders Sam Carne, Jules Haley and Ollie Moore that dominated the podium, taking home gold in their respective categories.

24 year old Sam Carne (Cotswolds) came away with his first national title, beating the seasoned performer Dan Nott to win the Men’s Open division. Sam commented, “I’m so happy to come away with the title, especially as it was at my home club.  It was a great day and amazing to see all the divisions stepping it up another level this year.  Thanks to everyone who came down and gave their support.”

23 year old Jules Haley (Buckinghamshire) claimed the top podium position and took home the title of Women’s Open Champion, joining fellow team mate Sam and winning her first open title.  “I was really stoked to take the win in the Open Women’s category, a title I’ve had my eye on for a few years now.  All in all it was a great day with an amazing atmosphere.  Team O’Neill had a brilliant result, hopefully something we can continue to build on in the future”

The standard of riding in the Wakeskate division was sky high, with O’Neill’s Ollie Moore (Peterborough) stepping up to claim the national title and secure O’Neill a hat-trick of wins at the event.  A special mention goes out to Jorge Gill who just missed out on the podium, finishing 4th in the Open Men’s at just 16 years old.

“We are really pleased with how the O’Neill wake team has developed over the last couple years, we taken on some great new talent and the results from this weekend prove the strength of our current UK team” – Steve Peters, O’NeillEuropean Marketing Manager.
