i woke up this morning and watched the movie from start to finish before going to work and my evaluation is "mehhhhhh". The cinematography was beautiful and the editing was great but in the age of immediate satisfaction and rapidly dropping online edits, there wasn't one new trick in this film. Harley's section felt like watching his pro tour competition run with less technicality and honestly a little less style. The Dowdy section was unfortunately cut short because he only filmed for a couple of days before blowing his ACL. The mega ramp shots were weak and the tricks were way less tech than the live competitions we have gotten to witness on the mega. Rails were blah and zeach was heavy (I understand that these rails were pretty damn technical and you couldn't pay me to hit one but i'm not a pro wakeboarder). JD to me rode really sick and it is a shame that Red Bull dropped him. I would have loved to see Phil, Bob, and Rathy in the video I was hoping to see some new secret tricks that hadn't been released yet. Style wise, the california section with Maur, Cook, and Twelker was well beyond anyone else and they also incorporated every technical spin everyone else did (and I have never been a WSR supporter). I loved that it was an hour long but was sad that there wasn't a crash section. I give the video a B- to B.

Kyle you're ungrateful and your comment annoys me.
Rathy was in the film….he gets the climax slow mo in the first section.
Did you watch it? lol
Perhaps your remark about the effects of the "web-edit" era are onto something, but everyone's already aware of this and Prime was an attempt to fight for the place of full length films in wakeboarding. Snowboarding already figured out the role of each, but we still have to find our own balance.
This movie is sick. It's longer than most action sports movies, the soundtrack consists of songs that'll have you watching on repeat (although don't think nobody noticed the steal from Modern Collective ;P) All of the riding is top notch & Harf's nose (tail?) moby dick 5 is quite possibly the gnarliest thing ever.
Do yourself a favor and pick it up.
I'm so sick of flame in the Alliance Comments section.

PS: Rewatching the last section & Harley's Front to Blind deserves mentioning.

Probably the most overrated wake flic ever. After watching the first 5mins of the movie, I felt so poor… 2 Helis, big trucks, boats… So cliché. This is probably how other board sports view wakeboarding. I don't think that there was one shot in regular speed, way too many slow mo and a lot of repeated tricks. I'm sure that the Prime could of been half the length. There were some good sections( WSR and JD) but there was lot of money spent in this sub par movie, perfect example of how money doesn't give you the best videos.

That trailer looks like "Defy part 2" similar beats similar shots similar helicopters.
Might save my dollars and go watch defy again, I know I wouldnt get my moto mates watching that, focus on the riders instead of how much money can be spent.

High production value, unique angles, and nicely produced. But, it is a bit too slick for my taste. The riding is very good, but there were parts that I was looking forward to that either weren't there or were entirely underwhelming. Lake Ronix was really kind of meh. The riding was just ok and the setup really isn't all that special other than that red bull parked the mega ramp there. There are certain guys that presumably make a living on their rail riding skills, but really don't ride rails all that well. I don't get that. Wish there was more Rathy, because he looked to be killing it. Danny and Rusty's stuff was good as usual, but you have to really look for the nuance with them because they're so consistently good. Looked like Russ added a heel front 9, never seen him do that and it really looked good – might have been wrapped now that I think about it. Danny's osmosis blind pete was ridiculous. Shota and Dean redefine big air. I like the way the film was segmented. No one really had an individual part per se, it was more like themed chapters. Dowdy does some crazy stuff, but I really could have done without the comment about how he doesn't like or respect anyone – seriously dude, get over yourself. Everyone is all about the Delta Force stuff, but Trevor's web edits and al sur provide a much better showcase of what those guys do. D Cook did kill it though and JD shreds in his guest appearance. A random comment – we've had about 3 solid years of focus on doubles and I'm feeling like its kind of played at this point. Just a thought. Don't care if its wake to wake or double up, I'd be ok if I didn't see a double invert for a while. All in all, this is a super professional, highly produced look at some of the best wakeboarding ever captured on film. It's great in a lot of ways, but it's no Lipsmack in terms of getting you stoked to ride. It's too untouchable – it seems too fake, it's not relatable. I think that's what a lot of people really mean when they "flame" about this. It feels too far above me for me to really invest in it. And that's not because the riding is so insane – it's more to do with the way its presented. Nevertheless, clearly a lot of time, energy and passion went into making it. Respect.
