2016 Superlatives: Wake Butt Of The Year
We know, you only bought a boat to get girls in bikinis on your boat. Angelika Schriber wins Wake Butt of the Year in 2016!
-
Is women’s wakeboarding some sort of a joke to you guys?
-
no, its a joke to everyone
-
You know what’s a joke?
Pigs like you.
-
-
-
You can’t be serious. This is insulting to every female athlete out there working her wake butt off to be better today than she was yesterday.
-
If they did "wake abs of the year" for guys, would everyone have their panties in a bunch?
-
-
It is unbelievable that a) this award even exists in 2017 b) the most words you can find to present the winner to your audience consists of how you only bought a boat to get girls and c) the complete lack of disrespect of riders like Anna Nikstad when she stands up to defend her fellow rider.
@buttchug bill you clearly do not have a daughter because no ones hard work and effort should be considered a joke, and especially when it is up against such ignorance as you.
@Phil Sovens left nut …you would be surprised to find that women would stand up for the objectifying of men in sports just as much as they do for themselves. ..but then we guess you just were pretty stoked to be able to use the word “Panties” in a comment thread so that dose of reality is likely lost on you.
Girls, hope is not lost:

You are just assuming 'wake butt of the year" is objectifying women, but who is to say a dude can't win WBOTY? Its a shame that people are so close minded, WBOTY is not bound by gender identity.
-
Hey “equality” explain to me how ‘wake butt of the year’ is not objectifying?
I believe the close mindedness comes directly from the source- Men like you thinking it’s okay to objectify women and magazines like this that will publish it.
So yes, it is an absolute shame how close minded people can be.
-
I'm not saying it's not objectifying (it very much is), just that you have assumed it is only objectifying a woman. A man could also win WBOTY, and then it would be objectifying a man. 2018 could be the year a dude wins WBOTY, or maybe it could be the year a trans individual wins WBOTY. Again, WBOTY is not confined by gender identity.
-
Why do you say "Men like you…"? You have assumed I am a man but you have know way of knowing that I am a man. I could be a lady, a man, trans, or a computer program.
Also, how do you know If I think "it's okay to objectify women". My statement says nothing about it being "okay to objectify women". My statement says WBOTY is not bound by gender identity.

Dumbest award of the year.
-
Wonder what that Dallas chick thinks of all this? Didn't she ride nude for the ESPN Body Issue? If a guy did that their dong would be flopping all over the place..
DOOOOOO'IT!

wake sista- i hear ya. in reality people love to see the ladies riding progressing and having fun. However, if you think you are ever going to stop these anonymous keyboard haters, then you have a thing or two to learn about the internet. Its unfortunate but often pointing out obvious logic in a thread like this typically fuels them to say even dumber stuff. On another note, I dont speak for alliance but the award does seem to be comical (not serious), I mean they did a "drunkest snapchatter" award too. Dont get too bummed about it, Ride, have fun. Just keep on keepin on. #ShredOnLadies #BringBackFemaleROTY
-
They do need a femaleROTY award, but… i think they were simply acknowledging the trend of skimpier bikinis in 2016. Definitely need to showcase the actual riding from the ladies of course, but… cant say i wouldnt have been pretty stoked to have won that award!

Unfortunately Wakeboarding has many more pressing problems on the professional side of things because other than it being a hobby and a business for ski schools and cable parks, wakeboarding as an industry is an extremely small and dying sport, every year it gets smaller and smaller and a lot of the people who run things have no business experience outside of wakeboarding which that in itself keep things small. While this sport stays in the state it is in, you can expect to see unprofessional posts because they are speaking to an audience under (or way under) 10,000 people. I try to stay away from making posts like these but I think way too many people in wakeboarding a drinking some kind of kool-aid I would love to try because their dreams and aspirations of professional wakeboarding just simply will not happen in the USA. Now after all of that I LOVE WAKEBOARDING and will continue to love my hobby of Wakeboarding (also i dont think there are only 10,000 people that wakeboard, however i think thats about or less of the amount of people with some sort of interest in pro wakeboarding as an industry) And before pros get angry and quickly write back, think to yourself: 1) are you making enough from wakeboarding this year. 2) is what your making and may make over the next few years make you sustainable as a business, because like it or not being a professional athlete is a business and if you dont think it is thats your problem unfortunately.
