24-Hour Guinness World Record Attempt this Friday-Saturday at Velocity Island Park

A team of 10 athletes will wakeboard for 24 hours straight, in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record of 509.2 miles, the greatest distance wakeboarding in 24 hours by a team. The record-breaking attempt will take place in a relay fashion at Velocity Island Park, the West Coast’s newest full-size cable park, located 12 miles west of the Sacramento International Airport. The event will run from Friday May 20 to Saturday May 21 at 9:30 a.m.

The team consists of Trevor Maur, Kaesen Suyderhoud, Matt Tonne, Tanar Pigrenet, Adam Whitaker, Jay Miguel, Hayden Berg, Joel DeRoche, Brian Wheeler, and Nick Levi.

“Now that spring is here and the water is warm, we wanted to kick off our wakeboard season with a fun and exciting challenge, and raise awareness about the incredible new sport of cable wakeboarding” said Scott Hartmann, CEO of Velocity Island Park. “Given that there are so many talented and pro wakeboarders that regularly come to our park, it makes a lot of sense to try to break this record.”

The original Guinness World Record of 509.2 miles in 24 hours was set in June of 2010 at Wake Nation Cincinnati. The record setters include: Tom Fooshee, Tony Finn, Jimmy Redmond, Amber Wing, Adam Errington, Neill Barker, Nick Binkley, Pete Kennedy, Mike Olson, and Brian Wheeler.
