I'm home alone for New Year's in Nor-Cal this year. Well, unless you count Chloe the Golden Retriever sleeping at my feet, that is. Even my parents are out partying with friends while I lounge in the armchair, but I'm not complaining. I just got back from what will probably be my one and only day on the snow this year and I couldn't be happier. We don't get much snow in Florida, so I'm always stoked to get a day or two of skiing in during the winer holidays.

Right now I'm not even worried about being out partying. I've got a Warren Miller movie in the DVD player, a supreme pizza from the local joint and a couple bottles of Not Beer. Sometimes the simple things can be a whole lot more enjoyable than the extravagant ones. One thing about Warren Miller I love is that in every movie he always says, "If you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do." How cool would it be if you could regularly approach life with an outlook like that?

As I look to 2008 and all of the opportunity that exists, and some of the things I might not have done in 2007, I am extremely excited. I just have a feeling that this is going to be a really great year. Hopefully, you all share a similar outlook. So here's to you and yours on this New Year's of 2008. May it be a year of health, prosperity, new opportunities, great adventures and lots of high-5's. Whether you want to travel to a different place or an old favorite, meet new people or reconnect with long-lost friends, land a new trick or fix some that are already in the bag, hopefully you find a way to do it in 2008.

For now, I'm going to finish my skiing DVD, play designated driver for my parents, and then watch Dick Clark try to not die on live television. That's a hell of a way to ring in the New Year if you ask me.
