Abu Dhabi Al Forsan Resort hosts the 2014 WWA Wake Park World Championships for the first time in the region

World’s top 10 athletes to compete for largest pot in history of the sport

New York, NY (March 4, 2014) – As part of Al Forsan’s continued efforts to bring the very best in competitive sports to the Capital, the Resort has teamed up with the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) to host the last leg of the 2014 WWA Wake Park World Championships in Abu Dhabi from November 5-7, 2014.

Al Forsan International Sports Resort, strategically located in Khalifa City, is equipped with two full cable systems and a two-tower system, one of only two venues in the world to boast right-foot-forward and left-foot-forward cables at the same location. The cable will no doubt further enhance the event itself, taking place in the Middle East for the first time in WWA World Series history. Spectators will be ensured of an exhilarating experience as they watch the world’s most successful wakeboarders compete for the biggest prize in the sport.

“Al Forsan International Sports Resort is equipped with some of the best facilities in the world, the resort was made for an event like this one and we are thrilled to bring the WWA Wake Park World Series to the region and to Abu Dhabi,” said Shannon Starling, Founder of Wake Park Worlds.

“There is an increasingly growing demand for sporting events in the UAE,” said Atef Nagib, Managing Director of Al Forsan International Sports Resort. “The WWA Wake Park World Championships is the first of its kind in the region and we look forward to bringing similar world-class events to the capital in the future.”

In addition to extensive water sports facilities, Al Forsan International Sports Resort also offers a range of other attractions including motor sports, paintball, shooting and a fully equipped equestrian centre as well as other activities for personal fitness. The Resort also boasts five fine dining outlets
