Love Merretts Photo!! Very clean! The viewer can focus on the skill and itensity of the jump. Great shot, love the jumpers facial expression too!
The other photo is so busy, billboard, boat, trees, also do not like this guys facial expression!

I agree with previous comments. Merrett’s image is very clean. No distracting background elements to distract the viewer from the subject. Also, I like the composition of the image (playing the rule of 1/3′s) and that I can see where he left the wake and how high he is off the water. Great shot.

Fay’s photo is visually more appealing to me because it draws my eye in the movement of the boarder. I feel the movement. Love the clean lines, distict water droplets and subtle but distict water colors. It makes me want to take a run right now…but alas I am at work. Thanks for the momentary reprieve from the daily grind.

I wouldnt call a chase boat a new and creative angle by any means. And yeah, way too busy in the background. Fay FTW.

Merrett,
Awesome photo! Ditto all the great comments. You caught the subject’s concentration on an incredible move. Really like the perfect horizontal tow rope!

the first one is just to boring, he might as well be on a wakeboard. I really enjoy all the colors in flakes shot and it doesn’t take away from the rider at all. And it also shows the team working it takes in wakesports for a rider to make their tricks. The photo shows great atmosphere, even thought its a “fruit-booter” Flake for the WIN!

It is awesome! the way that you capture this photo

Tough to vote for the first one and here’s why… 1. The horizon is not level 2. Too zoomed in and can’t see the take off spot fully
Reasons to vote for the second one… 1. Good framing 2. TIMMY!!

Where is the rider in the second photo. Nice trees and signs, where is the water? The best photo is of Grubb. Merrett Fay really got a great shot of a real wakeskate move. Look at the horizon, face, rope , water spray. Fay for the win. How
