Alliance Photo Battle: July 19, 2010
One vote! One measly vote was all that our champ won by last week. We almost felt bad calling it, as the votes bounced back and forth all week, but rules are rules and by one vote, Tim Sorenson’s photo is up for another week. We tried to make it a little easier to decide this week, as both shots feature wakeboarding, vibrant colors and air time. As always, it’s up to you to decide which shot you like better, and remember, one vote can make all the difference!
The Champ: Tim Sorenson
The Challenger: Jyred Baines
Which photo do you find more visually pleasing?
- Tim Sorenson's (51%, 139 Votes)
- Jyred Baines's (49%, 132 Votes)
Total Voters: 271
This Alliance Photo Battle is brought to you by O’neill Eyewear. Should the champ win, he’ll take home a pair of shades from O’Neill Eyewear. If not, the challenger will go on to compete against a new challenger next week! Don’t forget to submit your photos for a chance to win!

That's one badass Tailfish.

Tim's is PERFECT for a travel brochure or a story on the actual location. It's really pleasing, but Jyred's captures the rider more. The image quality and setting are better in Tim's but I love the muscle tone and facial grab of Jyreds.

Tims photo is hands down better. this is a photo contest and his clearly stands above the overly busy competitors photo. Where is the focal point? the rider? the three dudes in the boat? the water? All the things that make a PHOTO are in tim's, no bashin on jyreds but his is just a blurry snapshot. dont forget what your voting for in this "photo contest"

Good work tim! Keep em comin yo!

Sorry, but the rider on the lower picture miss the grab nasty and Tims picture looks like something that should be a big poster. So I dont understand why Jyred got so manny votes. Well, he must have good friends

the second shot would have been MUCH better had the photographer made the depth of field shallower. if the rider popped more from the background, the photo would be so sick. but i agree with what Trais said; it's extremely hard to tell what the main subject is. the fact that the rider and boat have the same sharpness makes it a hard picture to look at. Tim made use of a shallower depth of field to soften the background and bring the subject out from the rest of the shot, creating a photo that is much easier to look at.
jyred's seems like an easy snapshot, tim's is a photo that would have taken time to set up (finding the right aperture and shutter speed in low light as well as making sure the subject would be in focus).

Tim needs to be on staff… don't know why he doesn't have more votes. It seems he has a much better shot. Get out there and vote 4 Tim!

Tim deserves to win again. His photo deserves to be on a poster
