Desert Wake Announces Launch of Cable Wake Systems and Boat Lake Hourly Rentals

Mecca, CA July 28, 2011 – Desert Wake is pleased to announce the opening of two 2-tower cable wake systems beginning Saturday, July 30, 2011. In addition, a second lake on the property is now open as a dedicated boat lake for wakeboarding and water skiing behind a boat.

“Wakeboarding is America’s fastest growing water sport and we want to bring it to the residents of the valley as well as tourists and seasonal residents”, said Brian Grantham, Developer of the Desert Wake water park project. “We’re thrilled with the public’s enthusiasm and anticipation for this part of the project, so we’ve forged ahead to launch these two systems as quickly as possible.”
The cable systems will be open daily from 10am to 6pm through the end of September, and from 11am to 5pm on weekends October through Spring 2012. Additional amenities are slated to be launched in the spring of 2012.

Passes will be available in two time increments; a 2-hour session pass is $30 per person, and a 4-hour session pass is $35. Desert Wake provides all the gear that guests will need — helmets, Coast Guard-approved life jackets and boards. Gear rental fees: helmet $5, jacket $5, and 2-hour board rental is $7 – $15. First-time riders will be required to complete a waiver, and to enroll in a one year membership for $10 per person. For detailed rate and registration information, visit www.desertwakeinfo.com.

The cable systems are designed to allow wakeboarders, kneeboarders and wakeskaters to be pulled by a high-tech pulley system across the lake rather than being pulled by boat. The two Rixen Little Bro cable systems will accommodate all skill levels.

Cable wakeboarding is easier to learn than riding behind a boat because the cable system is suspended over 20 feet above the water and continually pulls riders forward and upward, which helps new riders to balance more easily. The cable runs will also feature beginner incline rail and ollie box obstacles, and intermediate/advanced rooftop rail and spine kicker obstacles for more skilled riders.

“Cable wakeboarding is rapidly gaining in popularity because it has opened up the sport of wakeboarding to a much larger audience.” Grantham noted. He also confirmed the fun factor aspect of the sport. “Riding the cables is an absolute blast, and the thrill of taking a ride on the water never gets old. It’s not only fun, but it challenges you to improve your ride every time.”

In addition, Desert Wake also has a boat lake available for hourly rentals. Users will have access to a private lake, and as a part of the hour rental fee, Desert Wake will provide a brand new Centurion boat, a driver, fuel and water sport gear. The lake is perfect for family outings, group retreats or small get-togethers, and those who rent the lake will appreciate the beauty of the 163-acre ranch while enjoying water recreation activities like wakeboarding, water skiing, inner-tubing, kayaking, or recreational swimming. CWB boards, Connelly skis, and all other water gear is provided by Desert Wake and is included in the hourly rental rate.

Per-hour fees to rent the boat lake are $99 plus tax. Reservations are recommended, and users may reserve up to 8 consecutive hour sessions by visiting www.desertwakeinfo.com.

“The hourly rates offer an opportunity for families, water recreation enthusiasts, or more advanced water sports buffs to enjoy boat-towed water skiing or wake board sports without the added cost of owning your own boat or gear”, noted Grantham. “And, hourly rental guests will enjoy the privacy of having a 16-acre lake all to themselves.”
