FLEGEL BROTHERS TAKE WORLD TITLES AT THE 2012 WORLD WAKE SURFING CHAMPIONSHIP
Merced, CA October 24, 2012;The dynamic Flegel brothers from Florida take the overall World Wake Surfing Championship titles in both the surf and skim divisions. A whopping $12,000 was awarded between the duo along with the annual claim as the best wake surfers on the planet. Noah, who rides professionally for the Centurion Boats Pro Wakeboarding Team stunned the crowd as he took the Men’s Pro Skim title pushing older brother, and predicted favorite, off the podium in the skim style division. Noah qualified for the Worlds with a first place finish in the World Series of Wake Surfing’s Texas event earlier this summer. Noah brought an array of tricks which included regular and switch bigspins, grabbed ollies & aerials, alley-oops, 180 & 360 shuvs, air 180s all decorated with linked combos of surface rotations. It was an absolute amazing set to bring home his share of $40,000 purse and his first World Wake Surfing Championship World Title. Noah’s older brother Keenan competed in the 2012 World Series of Wake Surfing and qualified in 9 combined stops in both surf & skim around the World including Zurich, British Columbia, Minnesota, Washington and Florida. Known primarily for his skim style ability, Keenan’s first year of competitive surf-style wake surfing proved to be one for the history books. Keenan, a seasoned athlete featured in skim style brought the greatest surf style run to date claiming his second World Title. He dethroned Chase Hazen, the current World Champion, with a high level of aggression that included huge bottom turns, snaps, air 180’s, alley-oops, ollie-3, air-reverse, surf style 720, surf-style shuv-it variations and the biggest aerials anyone has ever witnessed in competition. To make it even more special Keenan threw it all on his 17th birthday!
