Global: 2013 Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN
It’s that time of the year again – from 15th till 18th of August, the “Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN” 2013 will kick of at the Rhine river for the 9th year in a row. The biggest Wakeboard Boat event throughout Germany and even Europe will again bring thousands of people to the event location and parties. Some big names of wakeboarding already confirmed their appearance, not only because of the 6000 Euros price money up for grabs.
It all began eight years ago, when some enthusiastic Wakeboarders from Germany decided, to bring their boats down to Freistett, in order to have a weekend full of wakeboarding and partying together. “Chill And Ride” was born! Since then, our sport grew and because of that also the event – maybe vice versa. Especially for Germany that’s of course true!
Within the last years the event got even more international and the big names are now all trying to get over there in order to participate. If you read the names of the last years winners, you will get a clue about that internationality: Sian Hurst (IRE), Elke Venken (BEL), Carro Djupsjö (SWE) for the ladies category and guys like Adam Fields (USA), Yann Calvez (FRA), Dan Nott (GBR) and the winner of last year and the year before, as well as reigning European Champion David O’Caoimh (IRE). But these are only some of those big names to be called. It seems to be true, that the riders lineup will once again be even bigger for 2013, not only because it’s about winning 6000 Euros, but also about having a good time with friends on the Rhine river. For the first time ever, there is also a cashprize for the wakesurf division and because of the that, the winners of the last years, Corina Smyrek and Tobias Reissmann, will have to fight even harder for another title.

The date is fixed since last year. It’s the 15th till 18th of August 2013, like every year the third weekend of the month. At this time the Karcher shipyard will again be changed into a party hotspot and the shore of the Rhine will be home to thousands of people watching the wakeboard action. Thursday is traditionally dedicated to free sessions on the water, but on friday the event will wait with it’s first highlights. The wakesurf battle will be held as well as the amateur division in order to crown the winners at the party with DJ Stylewarz in the evening.
If your a rider and willing to ride the Team Challenge on Saturday you may not party to hard. This classic event of Chill and Ride powered by NISSAN is dedicated to a team of one female and three male wakeboarders, each riding for as much points as possible for their team in order to stand on top of the podium afterwards…it’s about action as well as about getting the crowd cheering by just riding topless. Whoever has been there last year, knows what we’re talking about! In the evening it’s time for the biggest party within the boat scene throughout the year. DJ Raze and DJ Tease will get the crowd partying all night long, for sure!
The action highlight of the weekend will follow on sunday, as soon as the best riders are again on the water battling it out and showing stylish and technical tricks. The crowd is able to enjoy the show, get themselves a cold drink or a snack, watch out for some specials at the booth, take part at raffles or maybe even order a new car at the presenting partner NISSAN, who will be showing their range in the contest arena and have some event-specials waiting for you, whether you’re looking for a citycar or a pickup.
Two times “Chill And Ride powered by NISSAN” Champion David O’Caoimh will be there again, but some others may want to challenge him. There are even more boat-crews confirmed to take part than last year, so it will again be a record breaking weekend. If the sun will be shining at it’s best like it happened to be ever since, there is again a big weekend ahead! No matter if you are a boatwakeboarder or more addicted to the cable part of the sports, don’t miss that event! Danièl Butzerin-Schütze and his wive Tanja are already struggling with all things to be organized, so the event will of course be even bigger this year!
