ORLANDO, FL (May 23, 2017) – On Saturday Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC) hosted a Zumbathon fundraiser benefitting Alan Vasquez who is currently battling a rare brain tumor.

Son of Nautique employee Midy Vasquez, 8-yr-old Alan was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor called DIPG, a highly aggressive and difficult to treat tumor found at the base of the brain. Because this type of tumor has limited treatment options, doctors project a 0% survival rate. About three weeks after his diagnosis, Alan’s family made the decision to seek alternative treatment in Mexico. Thanks to this treatment, which includes intra-arterial chemotherapy, recent MRIs have shown a 50% reduction in tumor size. Treatment and travel to Mexico are not covered by insurance and very costly.

Over 50 people participated in the Zumbathon event raising approximately $1500 for the Vasquez family. The event consisted of a 90-minute Zumba class and a raffle with items donated by Wyndham Resorts, Nautique Boat Company, and Aktion Parks.

Bill Yeargin, CEO of Correct Craft (owner of Aktion Parks) stated, “Our team, while sorry about the challenges faced by the Vasquez family, is happy to help them during this difficult time.” Yeargin added, “It is an incredible blessing to be part of a caring team of people who want to help others.”
