GREENVILLE, N.C., August 24, 2011 — Fans of pro wakeboarding have learned over and over that when there’s a world title on the line, it’s not wise to count out Phillip Soven. On Sunday in Indianapolis, the wakeboarding star proved those fans right once again, winning the third world title of his career. The 22-year old Floridian, who is sponsored by Overton’s, took home the top prize in the 2011 WWA Wakeboard World Championships.

“Over the past few months, Phillip Soven has proven once again that he is a true champion in every sense of the word, and Overton’s is proud to have him as a member of our family,” said Vernon High, director of purchasing for Overton’s.

Soven’s winning run in Indianapolis was highlighted by his Crow 540, Whirlybird 720, and Toe-side 900, which garnered a top score of 90 points. Soven also finished second in the 2011 WWA Wakeboard World Series. As he has done at wakeboard tour stops throughout the country, Soven used breaks in the action as an opportunity to mingle with fans of the sport at the Overton’s booth.

“Over the course of the past few months, Phil’s army of admirers has grown as he’s made countless appearances at our Overton’s booth, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans from all across the country,” said High. “It’s fitting to see a person so talented and so popular get crowned as the best in the world once again. Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Phil on another championship run.”

As part of their sponsorship agreement with Overton’s, Phil and his brother Bob Soven star in new video productions and appear in Overton’s photos and promotional materials.
