Epic Wakeboats had an official unveiling today for it’s electric hybrid boat the 23e powered by Flux Propulsion held at the Carlsbad Lagoon. The event was fully catered and included transportation via a stretch limo service; Nick Taylor arrived on his moped.

Overall the boat performed well and had plenty of torque out of the hole. It seems Epic has thoroughly considered every operating parameter with safety being a top priority; we licked every battery to make sure they tasted better then your average 9volt. The touch screen monitoring system was impressive offering every piece of information related to the operation of the boat including customizable settings for wakeboarding specific setups.

Production models are scheduled to be available in 2010, updates and details can be found at http://23e.epicboats.com/ Below is some basic info.

Over 50% reduced total carbon dioxide emissions.

Virtually no risk of CO poisoning with our hybrid drive system.

The Epic 23e burns 50% less fuel than a typical wakeboard boat on a 4 hour wakeboard outing.

You can wakeboard for 1 hour on batteries without ever burning a drop of fuel.

It can be fully re-charged by the generator in about an hour.

The 23e can be re-charged from a typical 110v wall outlet or a 220v wall outlet once home or at the dock.
