Collegiate Wake Series Atlanta

This is the one event that started it all for the Collegiate Wake Series. Ever year it gets better and this year topped them all. The new location at Sunset Cove Beach Club is EPIC with Fire Pits, a water park, restaurant, and huge sand beach on Lake Lanier Island.

Our long time supporter Ambush Boarding Co came out to hook everyone up with giveaways and games while the schools bared the 48-degree air temperatures. It didn’t stop anyone from throwing down and having an amazing weekend.

Florida State University came out strong once again bringing 21 riders lead by Kristine Wright who took 1st in the women’s divisions along with Megan Holton placing 3rd.  Ryan Jenson (1st Intermediate) and Jared Nadel (3rd Advanced) also added to that lead to keep FSU in first place for the weekend.

The 2009 team of the year Virginia Tech added some new riders placing in all divisions but women’s. Adam Van Dyke lead the team with a win in advanced while rookie Kyle Barmoy took 3rd in Open.

Virginia Tech also swept beginner thanks to Douglas Cofer, Nicholas Schrein, and team president Josh Settlage.
Ryan Mocerino lead the Florida Gators to a strong 3rd place finish in their first year the Collegiate Wake Series.  Team President Janelle Isaia also added some strong points by taking 2nd in Women’s.

FSU and Florida plan to climb in national rankings by competing next weekend in Orlando Florida.  The top 3 are heading to Long Beach California for Empire Wake’s Collegiate Wake Series Championships in April.
