The 1st Annual Florida State Wakesurfing Championships hosted by Time On the Water and Mastercraft of Orlando as a NWL & NWSA sanctioned event took place over the weekend of July 25 & 26, 2009, on Lake Ivanhoe in beautiful downtown Orlando. Lake Ivanhoe is a unique and beautiful site where it is also rich in history as watersports competitions have been taking place there for over 20 years.

The weekend’s event started out on Saturday where the athletes practiced and had the opportunity to try out different boards. It was also for anyone new to wakesurfing to see what it’s like to surf behind the boat. The boards were provided by Grindwater Sports, Enoch Surfboards, and Surf Fresh Orlando. The championships began on Sunday for all ages and levels. Riders and athletes from California, Mississippi, and all the across the sunshine state of Florida showed up to demonstrate their skills behind the X-45 that was provided by Mastercraft of Orlando. All the riders were impressed with the length and deep bowl (height of the wake) the X-45 produced. Wake Vision also came out to show us their great new product that you can check out at www.wakevision.com . The guitarist David Crabtree and steel drummer from Rythm Trail topped off the event with their unique tropical sound.

Special thanks to all the riders that came out along with our awesome sponsors from Alliance Wakeboard Magazine, Enoch Surfboards, Grindwater Sports, Surf Fresh Orlando, and Wake Vision. Also thanks to our judges, Scott Culp, Jaq Croce, Dustin Lenz, and Chase Hazen. Thanks for making this an all around fantastic first annual event.
