FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 26, 2007 PATENT ISSUED FOR MALIBU POWER WEDGE

Malibu Boats was recently assigned U.S. Patent No. 7,140,318 for their powered hydrofoil wake enhancement tool, the Power Wedge.

(Merced, CA) – Malibu's Chief Engineer, Danny Gasper, invented a powered hydrofoil in 2005 that increased wake size and modified wake shape with the push of a button at the dash. Offered on Malibu boats during the 2006 model year, the Power Wedge quickly become Malibu Boats' No. 1 requested option. The success of this Malibu innovation spurred Gasper and Malibu Boats to seek a patent on the design. Malibu Boats was recently assigned U.S. Patent No. 7,140,318 for the Power Wedge design.

"The power wedge is the best wakeboarding accessory to be introduced since the tower," praised, World Champion Wakeboarder, Darin Shapiro. Shapiro explained, "I love the Power Wedge because of the control it gives me to shape the wake however I want. When I have students at my camp, Ride the Spot, who want an adjusted wake there is no problem. I don't have to spend time filling and draining sacks or removing ballast. I only have to push a button and it's done!"

The Patented Power Wedge adds another dimension of versatility to a Malibu boat. This automatic hydrofoil can be set to almost any position between stowed and fully engaged for extreme customization. The variety of settings allows the driver to tailor the each pull specifically for the athlete in tow. The driver can move the Power Wedge to as much as 1200 pounds of displacement with the push of a button or back the wake down to as little as 400 pounds of displacement.

Malibu's Patented Power Wedge adjusts the attitude of the boat, as well as displacing the hull. The shape of the wake is modified at each different foil position.
