About the Young Guns & Young Guns 3
What does it mean to be a Young Gun? It means you travel so much you get new pages in your passport every six months. It means you go to places so remote, they don’t even have names. It means you surf like no one else, you blow minds every time you paddle out, you make up new, freakishly progressive aerial maneuvers in your sleep, and you do stuff the old guard said could never be done.

In 2004, the then 6-time world champion Kelly Slater inducted an elite group of Quiksilver’s hottest up-and-coming surfers into a new society: “The Young Guns.” Membership benefits included a surf trip to Indonesia and a chance to appear alongside the world’s greatest surfer in the new Quiksilver film that was later titled, “Kelly Slater and the Young Guns”.

By 2005, a new crop of Young Guns was quickly emerging.  Once again, Kelly Slater and Quiksilver hand selected the best young talents from around the world and treated them to a dream trip on a luxury surf yacht in the Mentawai islands. This unprecedented gathering of surfing’s most innovative performers was artfully document in the award winning “Young Guns 2.”  It was a stunning reminder that the pace of progression in the sport was rapidly accelerating.  Slater himself was amazed by the burgeoning talent pool.   “Quiksilver’s young team is the best it’s ever been,” he said.  He actually credited that trip and the time he spent “learning” from prodigies like Dane Reynolds and Clay Marzo as the turning point in his 2006/2007 competitive season and as a source of inspiration for his 7th world title.

Now, in the third evolution of the Young Guns film series, Slater rides shotgun while Reynolds, Marzo, Jeremy Flores, Julian Wilson, Ry Craike, and youngest Young Gun, Garrett Parkes hit the road.  The 2-dvd set takes fans in and out of the water, behind the scenes and inside the heads of these chosen few as they track swells and roll out to the world’s finest waves at a moment’s notice.  The spots are fresh, the waves are pumping and the guns are blazing with A+ action.  These guys redefine the limits of high performance surfing with each session in Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia and Fiji. Plus, thanks to the interactive YG3 website, for the first time ever fans decided some of the clips that made it into the vid. Throw in a bunch of funny extras filled with girls, partying and adolescent exploits, some never before scene Slater footage, and the introduction of the Mini Guns – 15 year-old budding superstars – and you’ve got the surf movie of the year.
