Thursday marked the end of the 7th Annual Spy Boot Camp, and the contest winners made sure they went out with a bang by tearing it up on the water at Carlsbad Lagoon. Each year Spy selects 6 lucky winners (5 from retail shops and 1 very lucky consumer) for Boot Camp. For this years contest, the winners were flown into San Diego for a week of fun in the sun. Before heading to the Lagoon, the campers spent the week watching the X Games and partying it up with Rob Dyrdek at the Fantasy Factory, hitting up the motocross track with Jeremy McGrath, and going Surfing with pro riders Mike Losness, Luke Davis and Kanoa Igarashi.

The winners were then treated to a day at the Lagoon, taking some sessions in the morning, then scarfing down sandwiches and beer before heading back out for an afternoon set. Spy’s Melissa Marquardt came out and did a demo and gave some pointers to the boot campers. Also, Liquid Force’s Aaron Grace and our own Bill McCaffray were there hanging out.

After getting some wakeboarding in, Spy took the campers to their headquarters in Carlsbad to see what has been happening with all the happenings there. Then the crew took off for an awards ceremony at the Transworld Media Offices. Kona Brewing Co. was there too, providing a BBQ and kegs. The day was finally finished with a race at K1, compliments of Transworld.

…Man, I wish I could be a Spy Boot Camper…
