THE 57TH MASTERS WATER SKI & WAKEBOARD TOURNAMENT
CONCLUDES WITH TWO NEW COURSE RECORDS

Pine Mountain, GA (May 29, 2016) – The 57th Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® presented by GM Marine Engine Technology at Callaway Gardens was filled with amazing moments on the water for the final day of competition. New Masters champions were crowned and two new course records will go down in the history books of the most prestigious event in watersports.

In Women’s events, 16-year-old Anna Gay (USA) claimed her first Masters Tricks professional title setting a new course record of 10,010 points. Nautique Athlete Natallia Berdnikava (BLR) placed second scoring 9,420 points followed by Alex Laurentano (USA) in third. Regina Jaquess (USA) took home the slalom win running 5@38-off followed by Nautique athlete Clementine Lucine (FRA) and Manon Costard (FRA). Defending Masters Jump Champion and Nautique athlete Jacinta Carroll (AUS) set a new course record of 188 feet (57.4m) to claim her third title with Regina Jaquess and Nancy Chardin (FRA) rounding out the podium.

In the Men’s disciplines, Nautique skier Aliaksei Zharnasek (BLR) dominated the competition with powerful standup passes to win the title scoring 12,020 points. Team Nautique athlete Josh Briant (AUS) placed second and Franck Desboyaux (FRA) came in third. In a heated final round of Men’s Slalom action, Nautique athlete Nate Smith (USA) took his third Masters win scoring 1@41-off in a run-off with Will Asher (GBR) who placed second with 5@39-off followed by Stephen Neveu (CAN). It doesn’t get any closer than the Men’s Jump final with Freddy Krueger (USA) flying 233 feet (71.1m) for the win just edging out Nautique’s Ryan Dodd (CAN) who jumped 233 feet (70.9m). Bojan Schipner (GER) took the third spot with a jump of 229 feet (69.7m).

In the slalom head-to-head competition, Big Dawg World Tour Champion Jeff Rodgers ran 6@39.5-off winning the Masters Big Dawg Final Four head-to-head against Ben Favret who ran 3.5@39.5-off.
Congratulations to Junior Masters slalom competitor Ryan Canepa (USA) who competed in the 2016 Masters Andy Mapple Memorial Scholarship head-to-head exhibition against Robert Hazelwood (GBR).

In the Wakeskate finals, Brian Grubb (USA) defended his Masters title with a score of 75 points going huge behind the Super Air Nautique G23 with his signature style and clean, technical tricks. Reed Hansen (USA) placed second landing a huge front-side 540 followed by Austin Polterock (USA) in third.

Defending Masters Champion and Nautique team rider Meagan Ethell (USA) stacked her run with huge, technical tricks that couldn’t be touched scoring 80.67 points. Nicola Butler (USA) placed second landing a massive crow-mobe wildcard trick for the crowd followed by Nautique’s Erika Lang (USA) in third.

The PCM, GM Marine powered Super Air Nautique G23 wake rocked Robin Lake during the Men’s Wakeboard event. Team Nautique swept the podium with riders Mike Dowdy (USA), J.D. Webb (USA), and Noah Flegel (USA) going for broke in a dramatic final round. Dowdy set himself apart with unique jaw-dropping spins and a double backroll to win his first Masters title scoring 93.67 points. J.D. Webb came out swinging with a huge heelside 900 and a toeside backside 720 finishing second followed by Noah Flegel in third.
