Charlotte, NC – Wake Up Lake Norman, summer isn’t over yet! The Atlas Wake Series returns to Vinnie’s Raw Bar and Grille on Lake Norman to show everyone why wakeboarding is the fastest growing water sport in the world!

Thanks to MasterCraft of Charlotte and Icy Waves surf shop, this year’s event is bigger and better than ever! Offering a $2000 purse for the pro division is bringing in huge named riders such as Adam Fields (2009 Men’s World Champ), Brandon Thomas aka BT, and Austin Hair (Men’s World’s 3rd Place). LKN is also home to Stephen Pierce who’s been pushing the limits of the open division all year; keep an eye on this rider, he’s on fire in the wake world!

“The enthusiasm and support from Mastercraft of Charlotte has been unbelievable,” says Empire Wake founder Rob Mendieta. “I wish I could bring MCOC to every tour competition. You never know what they are going to bring to the table last minute, so keep your ear to the ground and your eyes open for eleventh-hour developments!”

In addition to Mastercraft of Charlotte, IcyWaves Surf Shop has also stepped in to provide monumental support for the Wake the Lake event yet again. Last year IcyWaves brought their team riders to compete, had tons of free swag and giveaways for spectators, plus worked extremely hard to promote the event to the local scene which helped us bring over 1500 spectators out to Vinnie’s.

“We’re stoked to have IcyWaves supporting this event again in 2009,” says Mendieta. “For years we’ve had several of their team riders like Stephen Pierce and Emylee Wright (Jr. Women’s World Champ) competing on the tour, so it’s great to bring them back to their home lake, for an end of summer, hometown blow out competition. IcyWaves is a great shop and they’re doing really amazing things to grow the wake scene around Charlotte and Lake Norman.”

When the riding is done, the event doesn’t end! Join us VIP style at Club Synergy on Saturday night for a Luau and ridiculous nightlife! BT will be spinnin’ tunes all night as the guest DJ after throwing down a demo for all the spectators Saturday afternoon at LKN.

On-site registration will begin Saturday at 8am and all riders must have insurance through the World Wakeboard Association, which will be available on-site the day of the event. Admission to the event is free.

Atlas Wake Series – Wake The Lake 2009 is brought to you by Mastercraft of Charlotte, IcyWaves Surf Shop, Red Bull, Vinnie’s Raw Bar, East Coast Board Riders, Boater’s Warehouse, Wave Noize, Indo Board, and Shadowbox Live.
