Lake Alfred, Fla. (August 18, 2015) – Competing in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world, the second round of the Malibu Evolution Pro Series will take place in Tokyo, Japan as the Malibu Boats Tokyo Pro Presented by Rockstar is ready to begin on Friday, August 21. This elite competition will feature the best riders in the world competing on the best wake as they are towed behind the Malibu Wakesetter 22 MXZ in Tokyo Bay.
“Tokyo is an amazing city and competing right in the middle of the city makes this a great event,” said Malibu Pro Team rider Phil Soven. “We know that the competition is going to be fierce and that drives us to raise the bar every time we go out on the water.”
The three days of competition features the top pros from the Wakeboard World Series. After his win in Mexico, Harley Clifford currently leads the Malibu Evolution Series standings with Steel Lafferty and Phil Soven sitting second and third respectively.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to grow the sport, and hosting an event in the heart of Tokyo is just one way we are pushing forward,” said Malibu CEO Jack Springer. “Our goal in creating these premium, high class events is to showcase the athletes at great venues to help propel the sport to ever higher levels.”

The competition begins on Friday with the open qualifying in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions. On Saturday the Men will compete in quarterfinal action with the Women’s semifinals also taking place. Sunday will showcase the Men’s semifinals and finals along with the Women’s final.
