The New Nautique G21

In what Correct Craft admittedly called the “worst kept secret” during yesterday’s media event at the Orlando factory, the littlest member of the G family was introduced in a big way. With the launch and instant success of Nautique’s flagship G23 last year, followed months later by the G25, questions immediately started coming in. “When’s the G21 gonna be here?” That time is today and anybody can now go to www.nautique.com/models/super-air-nautique-g21 to check it out and start playing with all the different color combos and options.

For all intents and purposes, the G21 really is a little brother to the G23. The bow and main seating areas are a touch smaller, but like the 23 and 25, the G21 retains the signature high gunwales, deep floor, and huge wake – among many other things. Even with a little less room for seating, the G21 still holds up to 14 passengers and is a very comfortable boat to sit and ride in. At a true 21’6″ (without the swim platform) the G21 will appeal to riders and families who don’t need as big of a boat as the G23 (maybe they have a smaller storage area or a lake with boat length restrictions). The layout of the boat really shows how much thought the engineers and designers at Correct Craft put into the G21 before putting it into production.

The GoPro mount on top of the tower is a cool, creative option from Nautique. With the new GoPro app and a smartphone you can see exactly what the camera sees while you sit in the boat.

Of course, most of us were curious about the wake. Would it live up to the standard set by the G23? Well, it did, easily. Like the G23, the wake is long and rampy, but because the boat is a bit shorter the wake has a little more peak/kick at the top. What helps the G21 keep up with its bigger brother is that it has an identical ballast system: 2,850 pounds worth. Team riders Mike Dowdy, JD Webb, Brandon Thomas and Emily Durham all rode for the media and all raved about the wake’s pop and consistency. JD and Dowdy are known for having some of the biggest wakes behind their own G23 boats, but their riding didn’t miss a beat while riding the G21. For the surf fans out there, the G21 is also a world-class surf wave creator. Thanks to the Nautique Surf System the wave is big, clean and highly customizable. Team rider Tommy Czeschin put on another awesome show while riding for everybody – proving that the G21 is more than up to snuff.

Overall the media demo day of the Nautique G21 was a great event put on by the folks at Correct Craft, but more importantly the G21 is an awesome boat that more than lives up to the high standards set by the G23 and G25. If you get the chance definitely head out to your local boat show this winter to check one out in person.
