USA Wakeboard and the CBS College Sports ALT Games Host the 2010 Jack in the Box ® Collegiate Wakeboard Nationals

April 28, 2010 (SAN DIEGO, CA) – It is time for the best collegiate teams and individual collegiate riders in the country to come together in beautiful San Diego to compete for the title of Jack in the Box ® Collegiate Wakeboarding National Champion!  The College Wakeboard Nationals, hosted by the CBS College Sports as part of their annual Alt Games, will run from May 14 – 16, 2010 airing on both CBS and CBS Sports.  This year marks the 5th running for this event and continues to be brought to the collegiate wakeboard community through USA Wakeboard.

This year’s team competition will consist of an innovative head to head format; with each team consisting of 4 male wakeboarders, 2 female wakeboarders, and 1 wakeskater (a wakeboard division rider will be allowed to ride in the wakeskate division). The team with at least 4 wins out of the 7 head-to-head match ups will win the round and advance to the next until a champion is crowned.  Official tournament rules and regulations will be posted on http://www.usawakeboard.com

NEW FOR 2010 is an individual collegiate wakeboard competition that will also run as part of the Collegiate Wakeboard Nationals.  The individual competition is open to ALL COLLEGIATE RIDERS, MALE AND FEMALE! You do NOT have to have a team. You can still come out and compete for a title!  All you need is to be a registered college student, a USA Wakeboard member and the need to shred.  If you are interested in joining please contact one of the directors below.  The cost for this event (if you are not competing as a team) will be $35.  Spots are limited so please reply quickly.

USA Wakeboard and the Collegiate Wakeboarding Association continue to stand alone in providing a continuing commitment to their athletes by helping to offset travel costs, and this year is no different. Travel Stipends will be available to all teams and individual competitors if entry and payment is received by May 8, 2010. The stipend amount will be determined proportionally by the distance you or your school has to travel.
In addition, USA Wakeboard, in conjunction with CBS College Sports, has continued to strive in providing not only top notch competition venues with restricted waterways, but also venues that provide a higher level of entertainment off the water. This year, all USA Wakeboard competitors will be invited to the famous San Diego Wave House for a huge party celebrating all Alt Game competitors. The Wave House is truly one of a kind, bringing surfing in-land at an open-air bar; check out www.wavehouse.com to see the flowrider and facility.

As a host city, San Diego provides countless activities for visitors ranging from parks and shopping to unique restaurants and attractions (visit www.sandiego.org for more information.) The wakeboarding event site in Mission Bay will have various on-site vendors, on-site DJ Nate Campbell www.myspace.com/djnatecampbell as well as some wakeboarding, wake surfing and other exhibitions. The competition host hotel, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay, is the only hotel in San Diego with multiple water slides, three new pools, waterfront health club and a full-service marina with jet skis, sailboats, kayaks, sports fishing and whale excursions – everything you could wish for in a San Diego hotel.
