Catching up with the remote team is tough since they’re constantly boarding first class flights across the pacific and partying late nights in the most exclusive NYC nightclubs, but luckily after 5 first class flights, $700 worth of liquor and NYC cover charges I finally bumped into Silas Thurman and Andrew Pastura to get the backstory on this shot from our 10 Year Photo Annual Issue.
– Silas –
Camera: 7D
Lens: fish eye
Setting: A nice backyard gap with decent sunlight. To put it in one word “romantic”.
We had no clue you had photo skills, how does it feel to be published in the 10 year issue?
s: It feels amazing. I just want to thank everyone at the publication for making this happen. All the readers. Yan for the coaching. Dammit it’s just so unreal.
As a photographer, what was the biggest challenge during this shoot?
s: The camera.
What are you going to spend the check for the photo on?
s: Probably pay the remote secratary. She hasn’t been paid for a while and that Christmas bonus we promised is definitely not in the mail.
Do you have plans to shoot more next year?
s: Hell ya! Remote world tour. We’ll be shootin the whole thing.
What’s the best part of shooting with Andrew?
s: We just sinc up ya know. Photog and rider like cookies and cream or thanksgiving and turkey.
Any other interesting info about the shoot?
s: We almost went to jail in Alabama. The whole team.
-Andrew-
How many tries did it take to get the shot?
a: One shot one kill, nah we weren’t really shooting for a particular shot or trick…it just happened during a little backyard session.
Any close calls during the shoot?
a: Not really my backyard isn’t too extreme.
What’s your favorite part of Shooting with Silas?
a: Silas is like all the random hype people in the background of a rap video combined into one. He pumps you up and gets you hyped.
Do you think He’s going to split his check for the photo with you?
a: I’m pretty sure silas mentioned that the check was going to a remote 2011 party fund.
How much will you make in photo incentives for this pic?
a: Some bread and a couple gallons in gas if I’m lucky.
Anything else interesting that happened during this shoot?
a: Yan fell off the ledge into the pond shooting photos earlier that day. He was fully submerged except for one arm holding his camera up out of the water.
