Anyone can say they plan on doing big things in the next season. The only person I've seen deliver is JD.

he's kind of growing up. maybe got his first kiss? i didn't mind watching at least half of that and i have a feeling he'll keep getting better this next year.
DP says, "why go spend money doing the PWT if I know I can't win? so i might as well focus on my style this year because it was coached out of me when i was little." – smart, and i think it is working. PWT is winding down anyway. This was his best chance at staying relevant and being able to be in that battle for 2nd at the Wake Open type of contests.

You guys are spot on. Daniel is a guy who's grom/junior riding just didn't translate well to the pro level where style matters more.
His childhood coaches gave him very efficient and consistent mechanics, but they also coached the style out of him. He has trick-skiing mechanics. I hope it's not too late for him to change because the guy has real talent.
Just look at Cory Teunissen, another child prodigy. He used to spin with straight legs and ride really stiff, but now his style is on point. He was able to break out of that trick-skiing mentality and blossom into a complete wake rider as a pro, and he will likely achieve success on tour and sponsorship relevance for many years to come.
Daniel is coming to a crossroads in his career, and he has to show fans that he's more than just a junior with tech.

It blows my mind how much people hate on DP. How about instead of hating on him you try and put out a video that is better than this one because lets be honest your style blows and you're afraid you will get roasted on! Appreciate good style and riding because if you knew Dan than you would have mad props for what he has done for the sport, he's also one of the most humble riders out there. Keep Shredding Powders!

I'm probably stupid for posting this but I have a couple things to say: First, we have a family that embraces the First Amendment and the marketplace of ideas. Say what you want. Daniel does not have a big ego, so he doesn't mind opinion. Overall the comments were positive and sometimes thoughtful. The purely negative, whatever. But a couple comments were made about style being coached out of him. Now you are making statements about Daniel's coaches and I must respond and set the record straight. The comments are baseless. Daniel has had bent knees style spins since age 11 because he was coached by Keith Lidberg. Keith is style and coached that style. Daniel was very fortunate to learn from Keith. Keith led Daniel to The Projects, the home of style where he was coached by Pat Panakos and Robby Jacques behind the boat and Ryan Doyle and Pat on rails. The coaching was as good as it gets. Daniel, as he suggested in the video, is eternally grateful for the time he spent with these guys and others at The Projects. They did not coach style out of him. What Daniel was conveying is that competition riding can cause a rider to focus too much on landing tricks without grabs or tech tricks that are just not style tricks, like a dum dum for example. In Junior Pro, the judging system has generally not been set up for style points in order to remove some of the subjectivity. There are good reasons for that at that level but regardless, that is the way it is. Pro level judging is rewarding style more and more (a very good thing). Daniel is conveying that he is moving back in that direction as well. The only point I really want to make is that Daniel has been very fortunate to have had these coaches and any criticism of them is baseless. And thank you Dirty South–I think the hate is greatly magnified by virtue of the ability to post–but your comments, as with the other very positive comments, are true (in my opinion) and greatly appreciated.
