Wakeboard World Series Kicks Off With Nautique Wake Open in Orlando
LAKE ALFRED, Fla. (
March 24, 2016) – Today, the World Wakeboard Association (
WWA) announced that the 2016 Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) presented by Rockstar will kick off at the Nautique Wake Open in Orlando, Florida on
April 21-24. The second stop on the Nautique Wake Series, the event will take place at the world-famous Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC). The WBWS is compromised of seven world-class global events that host wakeboarding’s elite athletes competing at the sport’s highest level.
“It’s awesome to see the level of growth by the Nautique Wake Open in just three short years,” said Shannon Starling, WWA President. “The Wake Open presents an excellent opportunity for riders of all ages and skill levels, ranging from amateur to pro, to showcase their talent in a family friendly environment.”
The award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 continues to push wakeboarding’s progression and will provide riders in every division the platform to perform at their absolute best at each stop of the Nautique Wake Series. The Nautique Wake Series is the only event series in 2016 that gives riders of all ages, gender and skill level the opportunity to compete at an elite level. Each event will feature all amateur divisions, Jr. Pro Men, Pro Women, Pro Wakeskate and Pro Men. Professional qualifying will take placeon Thursday while amateur preliminary rounds kick off on Friday, serving as a preview for the final rounds of competition on Saturday and Sunday.
“The Nautique Wake Open is an awesome event that brings everyone in wakeboarding together for a great time,” said Team Nautique Rider Mike Dowdy “The contest is first class and provides amateurs the opportunity to compete under the same conditions as pros. Registration for all divisions riding on Thursday, April 21 will close at 8 p.m. EST onWednesday, April 20.
