Pro Wakesurf to Compete at Malibu Sparks Pro in Sparks
LAKE ALFRED, Fla. (June 14, 2016) – Today, the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) announced that the upcoming Malibu Sparks Pro will host Pro Wakesurf divisions at the opening round of the Malibu Evolution Series in Sparks, Nevada on July 1-3. The event will feature both, Men and Women divisions, presenting them the opportunity to compete alongside the best wakeboarding athletes in the world. All riders will be competing exclusively behind the massive wake of Malibu’s M235, which is designed to allow athletes to compete at the pinnacle of the sport.
The event will also serve as part of the 2016 World Series of Wake Surfing (CWSA), including one of their highest-level events with a Platinum Star ranking. Pro Men and Women are slated to compete in their respective Skim and Surf divisions. The top three riders in each division on CWSA World Rankings will be prequalified into the Semifinal round. A limited number of entries will be accepted in each division and athletes are encouraged to register soon to secure a spot.
Open Qualifying will kickoff the weekend on Friday as the sports top riders showcase their talent on Malibu’s world-class surf wake featuring Surf Gate. Riders earning a qualifying position, including those prequalified from World Rankings, compete in the semifinals on Saturday and complete the weekend with finals on Sunday.
Registration for all divisions riding will close at 8 p.m. PT on Thursday, June 30.
