GOODS: Fallout 4
Let me preface by saying I have not played any of the previous Fallout franchise games. Now before you chastise me about how “I’ve been missing out”, and yelling “THEY’RE SO GOOD” comments, hear me out.
As Fallout 4 was one of the most highly anticipated games of the year for Next Gen systems I was stoked to get my hands on a copy. I like Bethesda Studios, I watched my roommate in college slowly but surely become addicted to Oblivion, completing every side mission and collecting all of the items making his character a master of everything. I’m 90% sure he didn’t go outside for a full week after its release. Fallout 4 requires the same level of commitment to get into.
After a few hours of gameplay the possibilities are seemingly endless. I mean just look at how expansive the character creation options are. If you want your avatar to look like Robert De Niro in the God Father Part II or the creepy bleeding eye villain from Casino Royale you bet your ass it can be done. You want to build your perfect weapon and mecha suit to battle off enemies from giant cockroaches to huge radioactive beasts? Find the supplies and build that shit, it’s yours.
If I have any advice for first time players, it’s to pick everything up, scavenge, and explore. The quests will help you progress in the storyline and step up your abilities but go off the beaten path and explore. You will be pleasantly surprised at all of the cool stuff you can find and do.
All that being said, you are reading this on a wakeboard site. If you are looking for a game that is fun and you can sit down and just play for a little bit after a full day shred session this is not the game for you. You need to commit to this game because it is massive, and has endless places to explore and develop your character. But if you’re ready to commit it is a blast!
