MX vs Atv Supercross Encore Cover

Let me preface by saying I know next to nothing about the Motocross industry although I did once see Travis Pastrana do a double backflip in a stadium filled with people, and just watched his new movie Action Figures(link to action figures review), which was unbelievable.

I love racing games though. Dirt, Forza, Gran Tourismo, Need for Speed, amongst others put me on my level and I get competitive. In that aspect MX vs ATV Supercross Encore is fun, I can’t speak to its detail accuracy in the courses, liveries, or riders although I’m told its pretty spot on… but regardless it is a blast to play.

If you haven’t played any of the previous games there will be a learning curve. Dialing in your pre load, whips, and tricks will take a moment to learn, but just do what I did, grab your roommate, best friend, or your mom… (hopefully they’re not the same person) and play head to head.

When I first downloaded the game my roommate and I grabbed a couple beers sodas and played a game we blatantly ripped off from an old N64 pastime: “Don’t Drink and Drive”. The premise is simple, don’t drink and drive, but race to win… the catch is you can drink and then drive or drive and then drink depending on your strategy. Only rule is your beers sodas must be empty before you cross the finish line to win. We played for a while and had a proper good time. By the end of it we were attempting to throw tricks off jumps that had no business being tricked off of having a grand old time, oh and we also dialed in our pre loads and whips.

By now (a week after I got the game) I’ve got the Whip (sans Nae Nae) down, have unlocked every course, and can breeze through most rhythm sections without hesitation so it has lost a little of its flare, but for $29.99 it’s worth the good times you’ll have not drinking and driving.
