Mortal Kombat is the game that started it all for the blood-spewing, head-ripping, body-slicing genre that so many gamers enjoy today. The ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) was created because of the launch of Mortal Kombat back in 1992. MK produced chaos across the nation as angry mothers united to have the game unplugged from all outlets it stood next to. I can remember the day I first saw the arcade game sitting in a Round Table Pizza restaurant. My eyes practically popped out of my head. I had never seen anything like it but I was instantly hooked. Now 18 years later the franchise is still fighting strong… literally. If you’re like me and haven’t played MK in a while, now is the time to get back to the game we all dumped endless amounts of quarters into.
