Casios and samplers have become common ground in almost all realms of music these days, but it’s what you do with those keyboards and samplers that make you standout. Small Black, a dynamic foursome from the ever so popular Brooklyn, New York, has the experimental synth indie-pop sound perfected. After spending the winter of 2008/2009 recording in the attic of band member Josh Kolenik’s uncle’s Long Island home, the Small Black EP was offered to the ears of the world. Pick up a copy of this mind-melting gem and enjoy the riveting sounds from within. Also be on the lookout for their debut full length album, tentatively scheduled for release later this year. Check out “Pleasant Experience”, “Kings of Animals”, and everyone’s favorite “Despicable Dogs.”
