Before you start out you want to check your spot, make sure it’s relatively safe. Check out your take off, your landing, figure out what you’re aiming for and where you’re gonna go. A shuv down a gap is a lot like a shuv in the flats (which you should have down before you attempt this!) The main difference is you want to have your knees more bent to account for the impact of the drop.
1. As you are coming into your gap you want to have you eyes where you’re going. Stay low as you are riding up.
2. Make sure your timing is right when you start your shuv. You don’t want to ollie too late and tap your tail or ollie too early and not get over the gap.
3. When you take off, think of popping the board up to your feet rather than down the gap.
4. Keep your knees nice and bent and spot your landing.
5. Put down your board and ride away clean!
