Press Release: Quentin Delefortrie Wakeboards behind the Red Bull Extreme 40 at Cowes Week 2011

Early yesterday morning Red Bull Pro Wakebaorder Quentin ‘Kick’ Delefortrie was lucky enough to get towed by the Red Bull Extreme 40. The fantastic display stunned onlookers as they watched Kick ride behind a boat that harnesses nature’s power.
In extremely choppy conditions, with winds gusting up to 25 knots Kick landed a back roll revert and attempted a front roll but was hindered by the tough conditions. The catamaran shape limits the amount of wake produced, so Kick was forced to use natural waves to perform tricks.
Quentin Delefortrie said: ‘That was the most insane thing I have ever wakeboarded behind, so quick and powerful and surprisingly responsive to a wakeboarders needs. I can’t believe it doesn’t have an engine!’
Also today Team Red Bull scored a race victory in the Extreme 40 Sailing Series, beating two-time America’s Cup winner Alinghi in a battle of speed. The team got a second place in the following fleet race, placing them fifth overall
The Cowes Week is one of the largest sailing events in Europe. Hundreds of thousands of spectators come to watch the competitions on the Island of Wight featuring dozens of different sailing categories. The island turns into a Mecca for sailing enthusiasts. The Extreme Sailing Series takes place directly in front of the village (Egypt Point) where the event takes place and has been considered the main attraction for the last five years.
