Babefest is an all-girls cable wakeboarding event that was put on by Jen Baker and myself (Caroline Crockett). The competition consisted of 5 different divisions and almost 40 riders ranging in ages 6-60. This event was inspired by one of our friends Ash who founded Babeshredder which is an organization that encourages women to get out there and make awareness for themselves in the action sports industry!

Babefest took place on a Saturday and was an all-day event that consisted of the competition of course but among lots of other fun things as well. We had tons of sponsors out at the competitions with booths set up, a kicker contest, Fresh juice and snacks donated from local juice bar, a photographer (Greg Fulks) to capture the event, our Quest boys to judge and announce, and of course an after party to celebrate!

We also decided to do a raffle with some extra prizes we had from our sponsors, we raided almost $500 and used it to donate to a local charity. Austin Children’s Shelter or Safe Place is a shelter for moms and children who have been affected by abuse, exploitation and neglect. It was a really rewarding experience being able to give back to such an amazing organization. Over all we just wanted to promote women’s wakeboarding in such a male dominated sport!

Thanks to everyone who made this event possible! We are super excited to see the competition gain even more riders and awareness this year!

Sponsors: Liquid Force, Sun Bum, Elevated, Power crunch, Quest, City Surf Austin, Bombers Floatable Sunglasses, Juice Land, Rockstar, Empire Wake, Wake Wax, Babe Shredder, YETI, South Austin Marine, and the Wakeshop!
