Best Photos of 2015 – Garrett Cortese
2015 was another great year for wake photography and we were stoked to feature a bunch of it in the issues of Alliance. With that we asked our Editor and photo-guru Garrett Cortese to put together a gallery of some of his favorite images from the year. Here is the gold he sent back for your viewing pleasure, along with some reflections on the year that was.
“This past year was definitely a special one for me as it marked my tenth year working for Alliance. While my duties for the magazine and company mean I don’t shoot as much as I used to, I still get a lot of opportunities to do what I love most: be out on the water with the riders and document what they do. Highlights from the year definitely included a trip to Thailand for the filming of LF’n Awesome, shooting Josh Kerr wakesurfing in Texas, watching several of the invited riders work on their Real Wake parts, and a wakeskating trip to Colorado with Brian Grubb and Dieter Humpsch courtesy of Red Bull. Whether I’m photographing an up-and-comer like Gunner Daft or a legend like Scott Byerly, it is always fun to try to showcase both the action and the behind-the-scenes aspects that make our sports so special. To be able to bring those aspects to life for readers of Alliance has been an unbelievably awesome opportunity for the past decade. I’m looking forward to what’s coming in 2016.” – GC
