IRVINE, CALIFORNIA – (January 22, 2013) — Billabong is excited to announce Mike Dowdy as their newest Wake athlete. Dowdy has been a dominant force in the Juniors division for years and now looks to continue that domination in the Pros while running the double wave logo.

Dowdy originally hails from Michigan, but has found a second home in the warm waters of Florida. The current 2012 King of Wake Jr Champion has been honing in on a few new tricks for the 2013 season, including, according to rumor, a new wake to wake double.

Dowdy joins Billabong’s talented wake team roster consisting of Raph Derome, Brian Grubb, Shawn Watson, Erik Ruck and Marc Rossiter.

Dowdy will be focusing on his rookie year as a Pro in the King of Wake series and the Pro Wake Tour, with a little cable thrown in here and there. Watch for Dowdy to make his Pro debut sporting the Billabong logo at this year’s Wake Games April 25-28.

“Mike Dowdy will be a force to be reckoned with in Wake for a long time to come,” says

Billabong Wake Manager Chris Heffner. “We’re stoked to have him flying the Billabong flag.”

“As a young rider, there are always companies you dream of riding for,” says Dowdy. “From their clothes to their team, I have always been a strong supporter of this company and I am honored and blessed to have the opportunity to partner up with Billabong.”
