Raleigh, NC – Moving through second half of 2008, the Carolina Wake Series is returning to the capital city of Raleigh for its fifth event of the year.

The 3rd Annual Capital City Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 6th at BW Wells Campground on Falls Lake. The event is expected to attract over fifty wakeboarders from all across the southeastern United States.

"Raleigh traditionally has some of the best conditions all year," says Rob Mendieta, the event's director and CWS founder. "There aren't any homes or businesses out there so we basically get a long, narrow channel all to ourselves."

Riders of all skill levels are invited to come out and compete in the CWS' 5th event of the 2008 season, in which contest organizers are implementing a brand new format. Rather than the traditional two passes/three falls format, riders have a specific number of times they can hit the wake without any time limit. For example, the pro division will have 15 attempts and after that, their pass is over.

"The new format is going to make the event much more interesting," Mendieta says. "It's going to be all about who can go out there and perform the best under pressure. You only get so many hits at the wake and it's going to be up to the riders to make them count."

On-site registration will begin Saturday at 8 AM. There is an entry fee of $45 and all riders must have insurance through the World Wakeboard Association, which will be available on-site the day of the event. Admission as well as camping is free for all who attend the event. Each year CWS reserves a group campsite where we all get to hang out together and have a great time. "And yes, there are hot showers," Mendieta emphasizes.

The Third Annual Capital City Challenge is brought to you by Centurion Boats, UGP, Indo Board, and Buywake.com.
