Acworth, Ga.– The highly anticipated 2014 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour presented by RockStar opened its season with an action packed first day of competition on Lake Allatoona in Acworth today. On hand at Dallas Landing Park were 32 of the world’s most talented professional wakeboarders hoping to kick their 2014 Pro Tour title campaigns off to a successful start.

Impressive day one performances were registered by a handful of athletes, including MasterCraft team riders Harley Clifford and Rusty Malinoski, who both opened the season in top form. Clifford and Malinoski used the massive wake from the X-Star, the official towboat of the Pro Tour, to launch huge air after huge air while also displaying flawless technical riding on the rail sections. Both riders were rewarded with an 83.33 score from the judges, which tied them for the highest round one scores. By winning their heats, Clifford and Malinoski bypassed round two’s elimination heats and will ride next in round three tomorrow.

“The great venue, fans and the lake always make Acworth an awesome place to start the new MasterCraft Pro Tour season,” said Chris Bischoff, competition director. “The guys were going huge off the X-Star’s wake today and we saw some really progressive riding with a lot of the athletes already looking like they’re in mid-season form.”

New to the 2014 Pro Tour season, riders winning their first round heats automatically advance to round three with the remaining field facing elimination in round two. Competing for the right to ride in tomorrow’s final day of action, several riders performed remarkably under pressure including MasterCraft team rider Josh Palma, who used a versatile bag of tricks, including several highly technical switch stance maneuvers, to land a spot in tomorrow’s main event.

Thousands of spectators are expected to converge on Dallas Landing for the main event tomorrow. In addition to all the action on water, fans will also experience athlete autograph signings, music, free product and gear giveaways and shopping.

Immediately following the competition tomorrow, a Block Party will be held in Historic Downtown Acworth that will feature an awards ceremony, live music, outdoor dining opportunities, and much more.  The Block Party will run from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Parking will be available in Historic Downtown Acworth and shuttles will be running from various locations to bring visitors down to the party.

Gate prices for tomorrow’s event are: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under).
