Dubai, UAE – 7th November, 2010.  The Oakley Riot at the Sea Dubai Festival is back for another adrenaline-fuelled, double-up wakeboarding competition to be held at Nasimi Beach, Atlantis Hotel on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai on the 19th of November. The official line-up has some familiar faces to last years’ event along with some new-comers. Harley Clifford, Shane Bonifay, Rusty Malinoski, JD Webb, Shawn Watson, Parks Bonifay, Bob Soven, Nick Davies, Andrew Adkison and Philip Soven are all confirmed to go head-to-head on the water inside the Palm. Last years’ winner and Oakley athlete Aaron Rathy won’t be able to defend his title due to injury, but will be the chief judge to help decide his successor. Shane Bonifay, runner-up in 2009, will be keen to go one better this year while Oakley sponsored rider Harley Clifford will want to continue his impressive run of form in 2010 as he was recently named the top Male Wakeboarder at the Wakeworld Riders Choice Awards 2010. Harley says “2010 has been a great year for me personally, and really looking forward to the Oakley Riot in Dubai this month. The guys going to the Oakley Riot are the best in the world, and being a double-up comp, anyone of these guys can pull off a winning run, so I’m just looking forward to staying relaxed, performing on the day and having fun”

“The caliber of riders attending the Riot is amazing like last year, Nasimi Beach is the best wakeboarding location I have ever seen, the sheltered water conditions are going to be ideal.” says Emma Jones, Liquid Force and Hyperlite brand manager.

The Oakley Riot is the richest cash-pot event in the wakeboarding calendar and is part of the Sea Dubai Festival held every year in Dubai. The amateur event will start at 8am, followed by the pro double-up contest at 12noon.

“Oakley is proud to be organizing the Riot again this year,” says Andrew Whiteman, Oakley Brand Manager for the region, “It is building as an important event in the professional calendar while also supporting the local amateurs that love the sport. The next generation can ride in the amateur comp in the morning and then watch and rub shoulders with the best guys in the world in the afternoon, which is what makes this event so special”. Immediately following the Oakley Riot, Nasimi Beach will host a beach party that will start at 6pm until late. The Oakley Riot award presentation will be at 9pm.

The Oakley Riot could not happen without the close support from partners: Sea Dubai Festival, Liquid Force, Hyperlite, Nasimi Beach, 104.4 Virgin Radio Dubai, Renault, Infusion TV and Epic boats.
