Knoxville, TN – After a successful debut in 2007, the Carolina Wakeboard Series is poised to once again take over downtown Knoxville later this month.

The 2nd Annual K-Town Showdown will take place Saturday August 23rd at Volunteer Landing and is expected to attract over fifty wakeboarders from all across the southeastern United States.

"Last month in Myrtle Beach was our best contest ever, so we're definitely excited to build on that momentum," says Rob Mendieta, the event's director and CWS founder. "This location is one of the best I've ever seen for a wake contest and we're expecting some big things from Knoxville.

Riders of all skill levels are invited to come out and compete in the CWS' fourth event of the 2008 season, however the pro division is shaping up to be the big story as the tour reaches its halfway point. Hometown rider Daniel Walden will be defending his 2007 victory, but will have a healthy amount of competition, including NC rider Adam Fields, who remains undefeated for the 2008 season.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing how the pros end up," Mendieta says. "Its been the Adam Fields show all year, but all of a sudden there are some riders that are nipping at his heels and it's going to be interesting to see how it all pans out going into the second half of the year."

On-site registration will begin Saturday at 9 AM. There is an entry fee of $40 and all riders must have insurance through the World Wakeboard Association, which will be available on-site the day of the event. Admission to the event is free.

The Second Annual K-Town Shakedown is brought to you by Supra Boats, UGP, X-Ray Eyewear, Indo Board, and Buywake.com.
