Texas Ski Ranch hosts the Barefoot Challenge for TOMS One Day Without Shoes on April 5, 2011

The Texas Ski Ranch has been inspired to go without shoes so kids don’t have to on One Day Without Shoes, April 5, 2011. This is the annual day hosted by TOMS to raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life. Why? Millions of children around the world grow up without shoes, at risk of infection and disease.

To participate, TSR is hosting a Barefoot Challenge, and is inviting customers and employees to create teams of five for a relay race including wakeboarding, skateboarding, rock climbing, swimming and a beach dash.  Teams will compete for gift cards to the Board Shop and the soon to open TSR Wahoo’s, cable passes and more!

“The idea is that curiosity (sparked by people going without shoes) leads to conversation, which leads to action and change.  Our hope is that together, we can get more shoes to the children who need them, giving them a better chance at living up to their potential and uplifting their communities.  We also want our customers to have fun supporting the cause!”

Registration begins at 5:30 and the relays will start at 6:00!  Each team must have at least one girl and no more than three TSR or TOMs employees.  Entry is only five dollars per person.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to come out and show their support, and of course, to come without shoes!  There will be live music, a shoe decorating party and discounts in the Board Shop for all participants.

Make sure to follow the Texas Ski Ranch on Twitter and Facebook throughout the day for other awesome giveaways!

About Texas Ski Ranch: Texas Ski Ranch is a premier action and water sports facility with amenities for all ages and ability levels. TSR is the best place to spend the day wakeboarding, sun bathing, enjoying the diverse cuisine of Wahoos Fish Tacos, skateboarding, shopping, learning or a number of other leisurely activities.

About TOMS Shoes: In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One.
