University of Florida Wins National Title At 15th Collegiate Wakeboard National Championships. Gators also win five of the seven individual titles at stake.

POLK CITY, Fla., June 1, 2015 – The University of Florida wakeboard team won the national title at the 15th Collegiate Wakeboard National Championships, May 29-31, at Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area in Benton, La. It is the Gators’ first national wakeboard title since winning back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009. The Gators tallied 645 points in winning over runner-up and 2014 champion, Arizona State (485 points), and third-place Oklahoma State (353 points). Thirteen teams competed in the event.

Collegiate teams consist of four male riders, two female riders and one wakeskater. Competing teams this year included Central Washington, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana State, Michigan State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Tulsa and Virginia Tech.

In the individual events, Florida won five of the seven divisions. Freddie Wayne (Orlando, Fla.) won Men’s A, Will Green (Sanford, Fla.) won Men’s B, Jon Kistemaker (Largo, Fla.) won Men’s C, Marcus Knox (Gainesville, Fla.) won Wakeskate and Heather Bouchard (Gainesville, Fla.) won Women’s B. Fellow University of Florida riders Alex Montgomery (Naples, Fla.) and Dixie Smith (Hobe Sound, Fla.) finished second in Men’s D and third in Women’s A, respectively.

Arizona State’s Casey Knox (Tempe, Ariz.) and Greg Crusco (Tempe, Ariz.) won titles in Women’s A and Men’s D, respectively.
