Season Three of cable wakeboarding fun begins Friday, April 29, at the award-winning Wake Nation Cincinnati watersports’ complex in Fairfield’s Joyce Park.

Wake Nation Cincinnati is Ohio’s only cable wakeboarding park where riders can wakeboard, water ski, kneeboard, and wakeskate around a 10-acre lake without a boat!  Riders are pulled around the oval lake at speeds of 18-20 miles per hour by a circulating, overhead cable system that runs 35 feet above the water.

Visitors to Wake Nation Cincinnati will find a brand new obstacle on the water this season. The new obstacle is a 50’ “urban rail” with kickers on each side, and it will be the 9th obstacle on the Wake Nation lake.

Also new is a completely renovated, state-of-the-art pro shop where visitors can find the very latest in wakeboarding gear and apparel from industry leaders such as Liquid Force, Remix and Billabong.

Super events are planned all summer long at Wake Nation. For example, on June 18, a Liquid Force “Free For All” event has been scheduled, a day of free riding, music, free food, free giveaways, professional wakeboarding exhibitions and non-stop activities. And, Wake Nation is returning its popular summertime “Weekly Grind Series,” during which amateur riders young and old compete for points and prizes with category winners representing Wake Nation Cincinnati at the national Cable Park Championships at the end of summer. (Details on the Liquid Force Free For All and the Weekly Grind Series will be released at a later date.)

In addition to the 10-acre main lake, Wake Nation Cincinnati has a second body of water called the Practice Pond, which is a smaller lake featuring an “easy start” ride system. The Practice Pond is designed to give children ages five and up and beginners of all ages a place to learn to ride a wakeboard at a slower speed than on the main lake.  When the Practice Pond opened last year, it was the first of its kind in the USA.

Wake Nation Cincinnati opened to rave reviews in the spring of 2009 and at that time was only the 7th cable wakeboarding park in the nation. The next closest cable wake park is more than 800 miles away in Kansas City.

Since its opening, Wake Nation Cincinnati has received numerous awards, including three prestigious “Best Of” awards from Ohio Magazine, Cincinnati Magazine and Cincy Magazine. The success of Wake Nation Cincinnati has led the ownership team to build a similar cable wakeboard park in Houston, Texas, which will open this June.

Wake Nation Cincinnati will operate daily through October. Operating hours in April and May are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except Mondays when the park opens at noon. (For entire season hours see the website for details.)

At Wake Nation Cincinnati, both parking and admission are FREE. The park is a “pay as you play” facility with ride time starting at $25 for two hours. Rental equipment, private lessons, group discounts, summer camps and birthday parties are available.
