World’s Top Wakeboarders Return to Colorado Springs for Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour on July 22

WINTER PARK, Fla. (June 19, 2017)—The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour, the longest-running professional wakeboard competition circuit in the world, is continuing its 25th anniversary season with a much-anticipated return to Colorado Springs on Saturday, July 22.

The family-friendly event will be hosted at Memorial Park, last seen on the tour in 2011. The area’s considerable contingent of wake sports fans are expected crowd the park, where gorgeous views and pulse-pounding action are guaranteed.

Sixteen of the world’s highest-ranked professional wakeboarders will compete for cash prizes and the top spot on the podium during the third competition of the four-stop series. After the first stop on May 13 in Birmingham, Ala., renowned champion Harley Clifford (AUS) leads the tour rankings. Defending 2016 Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour champion Mike Dowdy (USA) and Team Supra rider Cory Teunissen (AUS) follow in second and third place.

The second competition of the season is scheduled for June 24 in Mantua, Utah.

As part of the circuit, the Supra Boats Pro Wakesurf Tour brings one of the hottest up-and-coming sports in North America to Colorado Springs. Wakesurfing—riding the boat’s wake without the help of a towrope—saw an astonishing 30 percent year-over-year growth from 2012 to 2015, according to the Water Sports Industry Association. Noah Flegel, Aaron Witherell and Parker Payne lead the wakesurf tour rankings after placing first, second and third in Birmingham.

For wake sports enthusiasts who can’t make the event on July 22, Wakeboarding magazine will livestream the event on its Facebook page, providing real-time access to the action, athletes and editors during the competition.

The Supra Boats SA550 is the official tow boat for the tour again in 2017. Purpose-built to create clean, consistent and controlled wakes, it is designed to push athletes to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for those onboard.

The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour will be presented at Memorial Park, located at 1605 East Pikes Peak Ave., on July 22 from 10:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance discount tickets are available online at $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 12. Tickets purchased at the gate will be $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12.

Members of the U.S. military with I.D. receive free admission for themselves plus three guests.
